in the moment is the debut solo album of electronic music by Monica Panzarino.  It was recorded while Panzarino was an upperclasswoman in the BFA program at the Institute for Electronic Arts at Alfred University in western New York State.  Each track on in the moment is recorded live, and does not include any post-production mixing, editing, or effects.  The album utilizes a unique combination of sonic elements and real-time processing methods, including but not limited to: toy instruments, an analog synthesizer, a vintage organ, an Alesis MidiVerb Effects Processor, Reaktor software, and Harmonizer software for a Commodore Amiga 2000in the moment is inspired by a concept created by Panzarino and her artistic collaborator, Laura Payeur, called “demo liberation.”  Demo liberation (also known as the “Demo Liberation Front”) “liberated” pre-programmed demo sounds or songs found in toy instruments, computer software, and other sources.
