Twist is a feature-length experimental visual album that will feature a series of audiovisual performances with "The Nipulator" electronic bra which explore the complicated experience of inhabiting a human body, as well as the perceived boundaries between humans and technology. Production for Twist began in fall 2021 at an artist’s residency at the Institute for Electronic Arts, in Alfred, NY, where Natural Woman, a performance of Aretha Franklin’s “You Make Me Feel Like (A Natural Woman)“ was shot. In this video, Panzarino’s voice is processed by “The Nipulator 2.0”, a custom-built, wireless electronic bra created by the artist that uses hardware potentiometers (or knobs), a hacked DJ Hero microcontroller, and a Max/MSP software patch. The left "nipple" of the bra manipulates the frequency of her voice in real-time, while the right "nipple" adds reverb. Twist will include reimaginations of several popular songs including John Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland”, Kraftwerk’s “Die Mensch Maschine”, Barbra Streisand’s “People”, and Electric Light Orchestra’s “I’m Alive", among other popular songs and recordings of original electronic music.
